I’m going to let you in on a secret… my guilty pleasure is smooth jazz. Yes, I love a good saxophone paired with a snare drum and a little bass guitar. I’m a sucker for Kenny G, I even saw him live in concert last summer and sang along to every song despite there being no lyrics.
I say this because, my new favorite artist grabbed my attention the second I heard the toot of a sax on his song “Girls That Dance.” Now I’m a huge Masego fan.
Who is this Masego you ask? For those of you who are familiar with Gold Link, Masego lends his vocals on the track “Late Night,” which features the young artist from Norfolk, VA and founder of the “Trap House Jazz” movement. The sound combines smooth instrumentals with eclectic drums and vibrant bass lines, creating a vibe that’s perfect for a workout or creative motivation.
Masego’s songs are intricate, with little details that spark curiosity. Therefore, this video of him creating the song “Tadow” is not only fascinating but super impressive.
Intrigued? I’ve created a Masego playlist on my Spotify that will be a great foundation to start exploring Masego’s musical catalog. Before you press play, get ready for something totally different from anything you’ve heard. It’s going to be different, it’s going to be original, and it’s going to be an absolute necessity for your music library.
