As a former dater, I’ve had several conversations with friends discussing how difficult dating is now. Sure, it was only a few years ago when I too was scouting for a future boyfriend, however, a lot has changed in that short period of time.
For one, I’m now approaching my mid-20s and like myself, most people my age are beginning to land their first full-time jobs while attempting to successfully adult. Balancing an eight hour work day, attempting to stay in shape, fixing a healthy dinner, and dating don’t necessarily go hand in hand in 2017.
With that being said, after some brainstorming, these places are your best bet for finding a quality partner in the Tinder era.
- The Gym. Unlike bars or clubs, the gym is likely to be oozing with single men. Why you ask? Just like women do their hair and makeup in hopes of attracting the opposite sex, men are working on their physiques for the same reason. Gyms also tend to have a younger crowd, seeing as 20 somethings are less likely to have families and other time commitments that older folks have.
- Mutual Friends. Utilizing your friends is a great way to meet someone and although this method may involve some pride swallowing, it’s worth it. Unlike an app or blindly spitting out your best pick up line at a bar, this tactic can save you time by eliminating chance situations. Make sure you’re as honest as possible with your friends about what you’re looking for so things don’t get awkward.
- Coffee Meets Bagel. I’ve personally never used this app, however, I’ve heard great reviews from friends who are in the dating game. With a little research, it turns out that Coffee Meets Bagel is unique to other dating apps because it puts women in the dating driver’s seat; stating on their website “…we are giving women more control of their dating experience.” Meaning, women get to choose from a handful of men that are already interested in them.
